DESIGN CHECKS in SLOP FIRED BOILER

Design based Troubles of Slop - Spent wash Incineration Boiler

Slop Fired Incineration Boiler is designed on Multi Fuel combination with individual fuel firing @100% within design boundaries. This combination of firing increase cost & design complication. Boiler should be designed on worst multi-fuel / Individual fuel condition

BUT during engineering, a midway condition (not worst) has to be chosen by OEM to save project cost & margin assuming that the Incineration Boiler will never run on all individual / multi-fuel design conditions

Lots of modifications were done in incineration boiler, to neutralize the design & operational defects

We are trying to provide some basic design checks adopted in market

∆P Pressure Drop in-between Steam Drum & MSSV O/L pressure, Super heaters, Flue gas path

High Attemperation water quantity to control steam temp

∆T 18 degC, Economiser O/L water temp & Steam Drum Saturation temp

∆T 25 degC, SSH I/L temp after Attemperation & saturation temp

Material of PSH Header, Attemperator Piping, PSH coils

Safety Valve design @ 110% MCR condition

SA air pressure @ OFA @100% damper open > 350 mmwc
